"System no longer works, confirms UN"

From The Daily Mash, h/t John East

"Meanwhile, the banks are borrowing money from taxpayers so that they can then lend the same money back to the taxpayers at a higher rate of interest than they borrowed it from them in the first place. Seriously, is it just me?"

I'm a taxpayer and a tenant. Does that mean I'm paying extra tax to subsidise my landlady's mortgage? Yes?

Working in the Telco sector I've no torch for the financial sector, but the truth remains that the financial sector has underpinned the economy for ten years, now the financial sector is in trouble (albeit it of its own making), giving it a kicking might be fun, but I'm not sure if it will achieve anything positive in the long-term. The state is happy to ride the financial sector in the good times, it should be able to help during the bad times, it's certainly in its long term interests to do so.
