But were they asking for it?

From The Daily Mail:

A swarm of bees attacked an elderly couple at their South Texas ranch, killing both and injuring their son, officials said.

William T. Steele, 90, was spraying insecticide on a bees' nest when the bees attacked him...

Spraying bees with insecticide will send them into a frenzy (as any fule kno). Bees need to be calmed with smoke first and the hive can be moved without a significantly reduced risk of being stung.

Surprised there is no reference to the Africanised Honey Bee or so-called "killer bee" which has migrated into Texas from South America and will attack for no reason or on the slightest pretext .

Or they can be airgunned one by one.

This is my first time I visit here. I found many interesting stuff in your blog from the tons of comments on your articles, I guess I am not the only one having all the enjoyment here! Keep up the good work. And this was really a quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done.

The rules for bees are, I imagine, if you're going to use that particular method, the same as for wasps. I do this regularly at the start of summer down on the farm. It goes like this:
1) Wait till dark, when they're all tucked up snugly in bed.
2) Unleash a few seconds of powerful insecticide (not domestic)into hole.
3) Run like fuck.

I suspect the old couple were not nimble enough for step 3.

I didn't find the mental picture as vivid as this one:
